Melrose is the ‘oldest town in the Flinders Ranges’ after being officially named by Edward John Eyre in 1840. This friendly and beautiful town is nestled below the stunning 960m high peak of Mount Remarkable, providing the perfect backdrop for many historical buildings and annual events where you can find something for everyone! Events such as – Fat Tyre Festival, Melrose Strawberry Fete, the Easter Tennis Tournament and the Mount Remarkable Show just to name a few! Melrose is also the accommodation base for visitors to the Mount Remarkable National Park.
